Broadcast Stations Get 2 Months Waiver -FG

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced a two-month fee waiver for broadcast stations in the country.
Information and Culture Minister Lai Mohammed said the gesture was among government’s efforts to ease the impact of COVID-19 on the industry.
The government also set up a 14-member committee to assess the impact of Coronavirus on the creative industry and advise government on solutions. The committee is headed by top Nigerian comedian Ali Baba.
At a meeting with the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON) in Abuja, led by its Vice-President Godfrey Ohuabunwa, the minister said the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) had sent protective equipment to some community broadcast stations across the country.
“I want to announce that I have approved the request by the NBC to grant a two-month licence fee waiver for terrestrial broadcast stations in Nigeria,” he said.
