Go Again— Mistakes are Superpowers

Go Again– Mistakes are Superpowers

How often do you make mistakes? The answer to this is relative and largely dependent on the individual providing the answer. Nonetheless, one thing is certain– everybody has made or still makes mistakes.

Thomas Edison said “I have not failed 10,000 times—I’ve successfully found 10,000 ways that will not work.”

Indeed, mistakes have long been pegged as negative, waste of time and resources, or proof of inadequacy. But I beg to differ, and apparently, so does Thomas Edison.

This is why I included one of his most popular sayings because it debunks the stereotype that has been taped onto mistakes.

Contrary to what you might think, I would say mistakes are indeed superpowers. "How?", you might ask. Well, every time you make a mistake, you come out of it more informed than when you went in. Mistakes help you see into the future and give you a clearer perspective of how to reach your goals by pointing out the ways that will not work, just like Mr Edison said. True, he made mistakes, but these mistakes were like pieces of the puzzle that took him closer to success.

Albert Einstein once said, "Failure is a success in progress", and I couldn't agree more. Failure will remain a failure if you don't go again! Success can only be birthed when you decide to go again!

Did you engage in a decision and it didn't come out as you planned, well, that is one approach to chalk off the board, go again! Mistakes are opportunities for success that can only be tapped into with resilience. Be resilient!   Don't stop because it didn't work, rather go at it again because it didn't work! Imagine that Thomas Edison had given up on his tenth try in the story of the invention of the light bulb?

Indeed, perspective is important in progress. It is what makes a man see a rock as a stepping stone or a stumbling block. Thomas Edison could only make progress because of his perspective of mistakes. So, redefine your perspective on mistakes, and try again!  The greatest mistake you can make is leaving your mistakes as mistakes. Go at it again!
