Lagos State Gets Brand New International Airport Terminal.
It was yet another historic day for us in Lagos, as President Muhammadu Buhari commissioned the newly constructed terminal building at the Muritala Muhammed international airport Ikeja, earlier today.
This project is the latest in a long line of Federal
Government infrastructure interventions in Lagos State. Some of which are; The Lagos-Ibadan Standard Gauge Rail Line, the Apapa-Oshodi- Oworonshoki Expressway, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, and the world-class Creative Industries Park in Iganmu are just a few of the ongoing or completed landmark pieces of infrastructure by the Buhari Administration in Lagos State.
We are indeed grateful to the Federal Government for seeing to the completion and commissioning of this brand new Terminal Building, almost exactly forty-three years to the day the old Terminal was commissioned.
Finally, our dear Lagos has an International Airport Terminal that is befitting, and that has the capacity to cope with the fast-growing flow of passenger traffic.
We also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Lagos State Government and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) for the construction of a new perimeter expressway to link Shasha road to the airport complex, and help decongest the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway, which is the existing route.
The reduction in journey time and the improvement in the commuting experience will no doubt be greatly welcomed by the people of Lagos. We look forward to even more productive collaboration and partnerships between our Government and the Federal Government, as they continuously support Lagos to achieve its full potential as a 21st century Megacity.
