News: Gov. Sanwo-Olu At the African Sub-Sovereign Governments Network Conference
At the African Sub-Sovereign Governments Network conference, themed: Championing
Africa's Development, I spoke amongst other topics, about the short and long-term benefits of the Kano-Maradi Rail Project.
A new Line that will serve a population estimated at more than 20 million people within Nigeria and Niger. Kano as we are aware, is one of the most populous cities in Nigeria, and also the commercial hub of Northern Nigeria.
So also Maradi in Niger, which has a long historical reputation as a center of agricultural commerce in the region. The Kano-Maradi Rail will therefore transport people, agricultural goods, oil and gas, among other things when
it's fully operational.
The new Rail will significantly improve the speed and efficiency of goods transportation, open up opportunities for the landlocked Niger Republic and other Sahel countries to depend on Nigeria as a viable access route to
market. It will also certainly boost the volume of business in the emerging Dry Ports in Northern Nigeria.
