One Indian, 36 Others Become Coronavirus Free In Lagos

After spending weeks in Lagos isolation centres, 37 coronavirus positive patients were on Wednesday approved by the State Government to reunite with their families.

Of the 37 patients discharge, one was an Indian national while the rest were Nigerians that were treated at three different isolation centres, Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) in Yaba, Lagos-Island centre in Onikan and Eti-Osa Isolation centre in Eti-Osa Local Government.

Announcing their discharge, the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Gboyega Akosile on Wednesday, disclosed that 19 of the newly discharged patients were females and 18 males.

The governor added: “With this, the total number of cases successfully managed and discharged from our isolation facilities has risen to 358”.

“What this indicates is that while our numbers of confirmed cases are rising, we are also maintaining a significant discharge rate of our active cases, which shows that our medical interventions and management of the cases are working.  “While we are encouraged by this, I will like to remind residents that the Ease Of Lockdown is not Ease Of Physical Distancing in the state. “Remember to practise hand hygiene, join our #MaskUpLagos campaign by using a facemask especially when outdoor and don’t forget to observe strictly the physical distancing principle”.
