Things To Do in a New Month!

It’s a new month! How excited are you on a scale of 1-10? :D

It’s easy to get caught up in worrying about the plans you made in the past months that you haven’t been able to carry out yet. Whilst it is good to highlight these things to know how much progress you have made over time, it is also good to cut yourself some slack and make plans for the rest of the year. Even if it started flat, it can end on a crescendo.

Now, I’m guessing the question on your mind is, If I couldn’t see the plans I made at the beginning of the year through, how will I see these new ones through? 

Let’s take it step by step. What should you do? 

  • Kill the doubt

Doubt has a crazy way of keeping you at the shore instead of letting you lunge into the deep. However, one thing you need to know is doubt is a fickle feeling that can translate into a reality if you dwell on it long enough, and vice versa. Have you ever had moments when you want to do something daring and you say, “I can do it! Let’s go!” 

But the moment you stop to think about it, you immediately begin to feel shivers. 

Did you become a different person in that second? No.

You are still the same person but what happened is that your focus shifted to doubt and your heart capitalized on that emotion and made you see red flags. 

It is the same thing with plans. Hence, the very first step to making your plans successful is to kill the doubt. Don’t go into strategizing with a lack of conviction. If you start with doubt, you will never take the next step. 

Say No doubt! Not today! :D

  • Write out all your plans for the past month and this new month

Be honest to yourself, some of the plans you made will not make life any better, true? e.g Taking a million cones of ice cream before the end of the year. Don't worry, it happens to the best of us, hehe. 

Here’s what I suggest: write out all your plans and arrange them on a scale of preference, starting from the least important to the most important. 

Be intentional about cutting some things out. The goal is progress and growth!

  • Decide on your starting points and research

Now that you have picked out your plans, decide on which ones are most important. You can start by picking out a couple first. Don’t stack too many plans on your plate to avoid burning out. Write out your top plans, and do research. Researching gives you access to helpful information that will help your strategy and the success of your plans. Then draw out a strategy that will bring those plans to life.

  • Get an accountability partner

An accountability partner is like a cheerleader and stern teacher in one. He/she pushes you to fulfill your goals and is also a firm hand that helps guide and correct you as you walk through your process. Find someone who you are very comfortable with but also, who is also someone who will not mince words when it comes to the truth. Both are good for you. 

  • Be intentional

This is the bedrock to success– intentionality. Intentionality is being deliberate or purposive. Now that you have written out your plans, take it a day at a time but make sure you make progress everyday!

Making plans and seeing them through is no easy feat but it is greatly rewarding. If you have time, make the best of it! You can do it!
