A Message of Hope to the Diaspora
There is a side of the diaspora journey that many people never see.

Perhaps you have worked as a carer, cleaner, security officer, factory worker, driver or delivery worker. You may be doing a job you never imagined yourself doing simply to pay your bills, support your family and remain financially stable.
There is dignity in every honest job. Never be ashamed of the work that has helped you survive.
But remember this: your current job is not your final identity.
Migration may have required you to begin again, but beginning again does not mean beginning with nothing. You still carry your knowledge, experience, resilience, gifts and potential.
Do not become so busy earning a living that you forget to build your future.
Learn a new skill. Take a course. Improve your communication. Update your qualifications. Find a mentor. Build meaningful relationships and prepare for the opportunity you are praying for.
Let today’s job finance tomorrow’s dream.
Your journey may take longer than expected, but difficulty does not mean impossibility. Do not compare your progress with what other people display online. Everyone’s path is different.
You may have started on minimum wage, but you do not have to remain there forever. You can become a supervisor, a manager, return to school, change careers, start a business or build something of your own.
It may not happen overnight, but change is possible.
You may be tired, but you are not finished.
You may feel delayed, but you are not defeated.
The struggle is not permanent. The disappointment is not permanent. Your current situation is only one chapter of your story—it is not the conclusion.
Keep working. Keep learning. Keep growing. Keep believing.
Your growth can strengthen your family, inspire others in the diaspora and increase the contribution you make to Nigeria, Africa and the wider world.
