Dr. Jermaine Sanwo-Olu to Moderate Session at Nigeria Conversation on Trade & Investment 2026 in London

London, United Kingdom — 3 September 2026

The Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Office of Diaspora Affairs, ESV. Dr. Jermaine Sanwo-Olu, will moderate a key session at the Nigeria Conversation on Trade & Investment 2026, organised by the Royal Commonwealth Society Nigeria in London.

The event, which will take place at the Royal Over-Seas League, Park Place, St. James’s, London, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., will bring together business leaders, investors, policymakers, professionals and other stakeholders to explore opportunities for strengthening trade, investment and sustainable economic development in Nigeria.

Dr. Sanwo-Olu will moderate the session titled:

“Towards Sustainable Economic and Industrial Development in Nigeria: The Commonwealth Advantage.”

The session will examine how Nigeria can better leverage its relationships within the Commonwealth to expand trade, attract investment, deepen industrial development, facilitate knowledge and technology exchange, and build stronger connections with Nigerian professionals and businesses across the world.

Speaking ahead of the event, Dr. Sanwo-Olu said:

“Nigeria has tremendous potential, but unlocking that potential requires strong partnerships, investment, innovation and access to global networks. The Commonwealth provides an important platform through which we can deepen economic relationships and create practical opportunities for our people.”

He added that Nigeria’s diaspora should increasingly be seen as an important part of the country’s economic development ecosystem.

“Our diaspora represents far more than remittances. Nigerians around the world possess knowledge, professional expertise, investment capacity, technology and valuable international networks. The question is how we intentionally connect these assets to opportunities at home.”

The Nigeria Conversation on Trade & Investment 2026 is expected to provide a platform for constructive dialogue on strengthening Nigeria’s competitiveness, expanding international partnerships and translating global relationships into tangible economic opportunities.

Dr. Sanwo-Olu’s participation also reflects his continuing advocacy for stronger connections between the Nigerian diaspora, international partners and opportunities for investment and development in Lagos and Nigeria.

The event holds on Thursday, 3 September 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Royal Over-Seas League, London.
